The steps changed.
Your walkthrough
should change with them.

You sent the tutorial to clients. Embedded it in your help page. Added it to a welcome email.

Then a menu moved. A feature changed. The instructions needed another take.

With ScreencastKit, you can put the updated recording behind your existing published link. People opening or refreshing it see the replacement, wherever you shared that link.

Record. Share. Keep it current.

Watch the recorder demo
  1. Record the walkthrough.

Capture your screen with microphone narration. Add a camera bubble when you want to put a face to the explanation.

  2. Share your published link.

Send it to a client or copy the embed code for your website. Choose Anyone with the link for account-free viewing.

  3. Publish the next version.

Select a replacement recording, preview it, and save the change. Your published URL and embed code stay the same.

Viewers see the replacement when they open or refresh the page. Already loaded players and separately distributed files keep their current video.

Start with a clear explanation.

Open demo recording

See the screen-recording and sharing flow in this earlier product demo. Current setup uses Connect to ScreencastKit in place of the API-key steps shown.

Keep the explanation up to date.

Refresh the video.
Keep the embed.

Publish a replacement without editing the iframe on your website. Embedded players have no ScreencastKit branding; standalone share pages display ScreencastKit branding.

Bring back an
earlier recording.

Preview a previously used video source and publish it again on the same link. Your current title, description, and sharing settings stay in place.

Remember where
you shared it.

Add private placement notes for the pages and messages where you used a link. You maintain the list, so your publishing context stays close to the video.

Make the explanation
feel personal.

Add your voice, an optional camera bubble, and background blur. Pause while you collect your thoughts, then continue the same recording.

Client work. Onboarding.

Will replacing a video change my links or embeds?

No. Your published URL and embed code stay the same. People opening or refreshing the page see the replacement. Already loaded players and separately downloaded or uploaded copies keep their current video.

Is ScreencastKit free?

ScreencastKit is free during early access, with a current allowance of 35 videos and up to 10 minutes per video. Replacement and restoration are available during early access and are listed under the planned Solo and Team tiers. See planned pricing.

What do I need to record?

A ScreencastKit account and desktop Chrome 140 or newer. Download and unzip the extension, enable Developer mode at chrome://extensions, and choose Load unpacked. Then open the recorder and click Connect to ScreencastKit. Keep its window open until uploading finishes; you can minimize it.

Do viewers need an account?

Choose Anyone with the link to allow viewing without an account. Organization and specific-member audiences require an authorized viewer to sign in. Recording and playback currently target desktop Chrome.

Can I restore a previous version?

Yes. Preview a previously used video source and publish it again on the same link. Your current title, description, and sharing settings stay in place.

Can I record my camera and microphone?

Yes. Add microphone narration and an optional camera bubble, with background blur if you choose. With camera enabled, select screen or window capture; the bubble appears on supported webpages in your selected Chrome window. It does not follow you over desktop applications.
